Who we are

Softball IQ, operated by Renovu Technologies, Inc. (“we,” “our,” or “the app”), provides game-IQ training for youth fastpitch softball players, coaches, and parents. Because our audience includes children under 13, we take children's privacy seriously and aim to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

What we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service:

  • Account info (real accounts): email, a hashed password, and display name.
  • Child profile info (parent- or coach-created): a first name or nickname, birth month and year, age group, and positions. Managed children have no login and no email of their own.
  • Gameplay: quiz attempts, answers, streaks, and assignment completions.
  • Billing (paid plans only): handled by Stripe; we never see or store card numbers.

We do not collect precise location, photos (a roster screenshot is read once and discarded), phone numbers, full last names of children, or children's marketing-email consent.

How we use it

To deliver the training experience: serving quizzes, tracking progress and streaks, powering team leaderboards and coach analytics, and sending account email. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising.

We use a small set of vendors to operate the service. Each processes data on our behalf as a service provider, not for their own purposes.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

Children under 13 cannot create their own account. A child is added only by a parent (who plays on their behalf) or rostered by a coach. We collect the minimum needed and never require a child's email.

Before a child's account is fully active, we obtain verifiable parental consent: we confirm with the parent by email, or through the parent's payment when they subscribe. Until consent is confirmed, the account is provisional and is removed automatically if consent is not given.

Parents can review and download their child's data, and delete the child's account and all associated data, from the family page at any time.

Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected. Anonymous quick-play results are stored only in your browser and are never saved to our servers.

A child account whose parental consent is not confirmed is deleted within 14 days (30 days for a coach-rostered player with no parent contact yet). When a parent deletes a child, or you delete your account, the data is removed and the deletion cascades to all associated records.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data, and a parent can do the same for a managed child. Account and child deletion are available in-app; for anything else, contact team@softballiq.app.
